The right team for high-stakes cases

We partner with top senior counsel and respected experts (child psychology, forensics, cross-border enforcement). No “hired guns”—only credible, court-ready specialists.

Results with heart

Clients call us kind, strategic, relentless. We prepare like litigators and lead with humanity.

  • Endorsed by: Craig Wilkinson (Father a Nation) and the Reeva Steenkamp Foundation
  • Community leadership: Simon serves as Chair of the Community Policing Forum (CPF)
  • Service: Rotary fellow

Trusted by the public

500+ five-star reviews and one of South Africa’s most published family-law content libraries—articles, explainers, case notes, and practical guides.

Our story

  • 2000s: Simon studies and trains with a vision to combine courtroom excellence with human-first advocacy.
  • Age 26: SD Law opens in Cape Town.
  • 2012–2020: Practice grows through complex child matters, relocation disputes, and cross-border enforcement.
  • 2020–Today: International family law becomes a core strength; YouTube library surpasses 250 videos; awards and national media features follow.
  • Now: Headquarters in Cape Town with remote offices across the provinces, serving local and international clients seamlessly.

What we do best

  • International care & contact (formerly “custody”)
  • Child relocation (applications & oppositions)
  • Hague Convention – child abduction/retention (returns & defences)
  • International divorce & recognition of foreign orders
  • Cross-border asset division & enforcement
  • Maintenance (child & spousal), variation & enforcement

We act across all provinces, coordinate with foreign counsel, and secure mirror orders so South African judgments hold abroad (and vice versa).

Talk to us about your matter

How we work

  1. Triage & protection – We stabilise risk (non-removal orders, passport controls, interim care/contact).
  2. Jurisdiction & strategy – Map SA vs foreign forum, treaty routes, and enforceability.
  3. Evidence & experts – Court-credible reports (child welfare, valuations, forensics).
  4. Resolution path – Child-centred settlement where possible; decisive litigation where necessary.
  5. Enforceability – Recognition/mirror orders; compliance plans that actually work.

Our values

  • Child-first – Best interests are non-negotiable.
  • Clarity – Plain language, clear options, realistic timelines.
  • Courage – We do the right thing, even when it’s hard.
  • Care – You’re a person, not a file. We show up.
